Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) was established in August 1993 and is registered under the Companies Act, 1956 with the objective of initiating the process of restructuring of the power sector and mobilizing resources from the market to increase the productivity of the state.  And improve the quality and cost of the existing generation.  The company was promoted by the former Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) in the context of liberalization and as part of efforts towards restructuring the power sector.  GSECL's Association Memorandum and Articles envisage a wide spectrum of activities to improve Gujarat's electricity infrastructure.  GSECL has started its activities in the field of power generation.

Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) Official Websitewas established in May 1999 and is registered under the Companies Act, 1956.  The company was promoted by the previous Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) as its wholly owned subsidiary in terms of liberalization.  Efforts towards restructuring of the power sector.  Subsequently, the Government of Gujarat, by notification dated March 31, 2005, indicated that in pursuance of the transfer scheme, the effective date for transfer of assets, liabilities, proceedings and employees would be extended to April 1, 2005.  A holding company, Gujarat Energy Development Corporation Limited (GUVNL) has also been formed.  In addition to the co-ordination functions, GUVNL also handles the trading and bulk supply functions.

We at DISCOMs have the rare privilege of empowering millions of people in their homes as well as in all kinds of activities - agricultural (or allied), commercial, industrial and other places by providing electricity.  The four companies DGVCL, MGVCL, PGVCL and UGVCL were incorporated on September 15, 2003 with business certificate.  October 15, 2003. Commercial operations of the company commenced on April 1, 2005.  All the distribution companies supply electricity in all the districts of the state of Gujarat.  For better administration and customer convenience, the administrative area of ​​all the companies has been divided into a total of 40 and 20 of them are under the direct control of 3 corporate offices.
